| Each January, our nation celebrates National Mentoring Month (NMM). This month-long media and outreach campaign focuses on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us—individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, faith communities and nonprofits—can work together to increase the number of mentors and assure brighter futures for our young people. The Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota (MPM) is the lead agency for NMM in Minnesota every year. NEW THIS YEAR! National Mentoring Month is going social! Check out Facebook's "I am a Mentor Day" Event Page for more details on this exciting one-day social media event on January 11, 2012. Free, downloadable recruitment tools for the 2012 campaign may be viewed here. "We received the [NMM] materials, and we are SUPER jazzed about everything! The whole office felt like it was our own personal Christmas present. Everything looks great....Thank you for all your help and support!" - Taté Walker, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sioux Empire If you are looking for academically-oriented materials, we've put together a free collection of education-related mentoring resources. With research from the University of Minnesota's College Readiness Consortium and support from GE and Best Buy, MPM developed the K-12 Journey Map to give mentors a structured way to address academics with their mentees. The tool is free, and it is a fun and interactive way to talk about preparing for postsecondary success. Special thanks to the Curtis L. Carlson Family Foundation and Federated Insurance for their generous support of Minnesota's 2012 National Mentoring Month efforts. | 2012 NMM Graphic "I am a Mentor"
