| Wired for 2020 is the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota's year-long engagement campaign to recruit more mentors willing to help young people spark interests, explore resources that support their passions and provide ongoing support that will help them fulfill their goals. At the Wired for 2020 event at the Mall of America on April 18th, youth had the opportunity to explore high-tech, interactive exhibits that gave them a glimpse of how technology and innovation is changing the way we live, learn and interact in the future. This youth-focused event featured exhibits like the University of Minnesota's solar powered race car and interactive games for youth. - General Colin Powell is designated as a key spokesperson for the 2009 NMM campaign.
- On January 12th, Newsweek ran an ad featuring President Barack Obama with the message "Be the Change. Mentor a Child." This same ad appeared in the New York Times on December 18th.
