The Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota

Advocating, Educating and Setting Quality Standards

Robert Dayton with Executive Youth BoardDear Friends,

We are deeply saddened by the loss of a civic leader and mentoring champion in Minnesota, Mr. Robert J. Dayton.  In 1994, Bob founded the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota and believed that all young people deserved to have caring adults in their lives.  He convened business and community leaders around the idea that communities are stronger when our young people are guided and supported by caring adults.  For over 20 years, many of Minnesota’s largest companies continually invest in mentoring because of Bob’s leadership.  He always advocated that mentoring was not a “nice to do” but a “need to do.”  Bob was a true mentor to many, including the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota’s staff and board.

We thank Bob and Joanie Dayton for carrying on the true Dayton tradition of giving back to their community.  Their contributions to the mentoring field in Minnesota and across the country are widely recognized and appreciated. We will miss you, Bob!
