What is the Quality Mentoring Assessment Path (QMAP) based on?
The QMAP is based on the Elements of Effective Practice for MentoringTM, as well as insight from a Quality Advisory Committee made up of experienced Minnesota mentoring and evaluation practitioners.

What is the Elements of Effective Practice for MentoringTM?
Based on the latest mentoring policies, practices, experiences, and research, the Elements of Effective Practice for MentoringTM (EEP) serves as the gold standard for mentoring best practices.  The guidelines were developed and published by the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota's (MPM) national organization, MENTOR, with the support of leading experts and researchers in the field, state mentoring partnerships, practitioners and federal funders.

How do I know if my program is eligible for the QMAP?
Currently, the QMAP is available upon request to all Minnesota youth mentoring programs that are registered on MPM's website.

Does the QMAP cost my program anything?
There is no monetary cost to mentoring programs in Minnesota.

What do I need to get started?
You will need a computer with high-speed Internet access, your program manual or operational guide, and time.  Before beginning the assessment, you need to be registered on the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota’s website.  Register here.

Within an organization, who should conduct the assessment?
The person or people who have the most knowledge about your program processes, policies and history.  Many programs have found it useful to involve multiple staff members in the assessment process - some programs have even involved other stakeholders, such as board members.

How long does it take to go through the QMAP tool?
Generally, the QMAP tool takes programs 4-8 hours to complete.

I cannot find the Program Login button in order to access my QMAP, help!
The Program Login link is on the far right of every page in the gray bar under the main image.  If you have your browser set to zoom, you may need to scroll right to see it.  If you have logged in before, by default the browser remembers your login and this button will say “Program Profile” instead of Program Login.  Just click on that instead, and the QMAP link will be on the left like it was after you logged in before.

I cannot remember my program login information – what should I do?
When a program registers on the MPM website, it receives a registration ID and password.  If you lose track of it, you can email mentor@mpmn.org to request the information.

Can I change my program’s password?
Not at this time.  The good news is that you can check the “Remember Me” box on the Program Login page, and then you won’t have to log in every time.

While filling out the QMAP, I got an error message.  What should I do?
Please take a screenshot and print the error message so that you can show MPM what it said.  If for some reason you cannot do either of these things, write down every detail from the screen that you can – what the error message says, whether it is displayed in the browser or a dialog box, if it included the MPM logo, and anything else that might be pertinent.  This information will help MPM pinpoint what went wrong and more quickly come up with a proper solution.

While uploading a supporting document, a dialog box popped up that said, "Do you want to replace the file ______?"
Each uploaded document throughout the QMAP needs a unique name.  This means that if you are uploading the same document for two different sections, you will need to give it a different name in the second section.  So when you get this error message, click cancel, change the document name on your computer, then try uploading it again (unless you do want to replace the old file with the same name).

Who can see my program’s quality assessment?
Only MPM staff and our external project evaluation consultants will have access to your results, which will remain confidential.

Is there a collection of resources specific to the QMAP that might help me complete the tool?
Yes.  From any section in the QMAP, you can click on “Resources” in the QMAP menu.  Each Resources link will open a new window or tab and take you to the appropriate point on the QMAP Resources webpage, which is full of guidelines, general information and templates.

Can I still access the QMAP Resources webpage after I submit my QMAP?
The QMAP resources are available to anyone at any time at the following URL: http://www.mpmn.org/Resources/QMAPResources.aspx

When I try to print the QMAP, some of my responses don't print.
The print feature only prints your saved responses, so save your QMAP and try again.  If that doesn't solve the problem, make sure you are using the most current version of your browser.  If you are using Internet Explorer, you will need Internet Explorer 8 or better.

I thought I answered every item, but the progress bar says the tool is not 100% complete/I don't see a submit button.
Click on the “Show Me Unanswered Questions” link to find what is not complete.  If everything is complete, click save; the progress bar and submit button should then be accurate.

Can I still access my QMAP after I submit it?
After submitting your QMAP, you will have the ability to view your submission using the same link you used while you were actively going through the QMAP.

If I have a question that is not in the FAQ, who should I contact?
