Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Exploration

Who knew math or science could be so much fun? The links below are great activities about science, technology, engineering and math – we call it STEM!

MPM's K-12 Journey Map - This online tool is Minnesota's first interactive outline mapping major milestones for youth as they prepare for postsecondary education.  The map includes links to resources that support the milestones, from taking a career interst finder to finding ways to pay for college.  The Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota's (MPM) K-12 Journey Map is sponsored by GE and the University of Minnesota.

Science Buzz - Science Buzz is the Science Museum of Minnesota's website featuring "current science" initiatives. It's focused on science in the news, emerging research and seasonal science. This interactive website is a great source of information and a fun place to learn and share your experiences, stories and observations.

Try Science - Find a world of information, activities, and ideas that are just like science - exciting and useful. Connect to local museums and nature centers, learn about experiments to do at home, go on a virtual field trip or choose your own video game learning adventure.

PBS Zoom - PBS Zoom is a website for kids made by kids.  It has games and activities to do both on the site and for remote. Look for science and engineering activities and resources.

Braincake - The Girls, Math & Science Partnership's mission is to engage, educate, and embrace girls as architects of change.
Target ages: Girls age 11 - 17 and their parents, teachers, and mentors

Engineer Girl - The Engineer Girl website is part of an National Academy of Engineering project to bring national attention to the opportunity that engineering represents to all people at any age, but particularly to women and girls.
Target ages: Middle and high school students

Minnesota Department of Education - MDE is dedicated to making good minds great through STEM education, with STEM information and tools, including STEM career profiles, links to Minnesota colleges and professional organizations, cool learning activities and a STEM Toolkit with study guides and other resources.

Benchmarks for Science Literacy - What do young people need to know about science and technology by the time they leave high school? What does it mean to be "scientifically literate"?   Benchmarks for Science Literacy is a great resource to track core understandings in STEM and how to help our youth gain those understandings.
