    January 2012 marks the 11th anniversary of National Mentoring Month, an annual media campaign to recruit volunteer mentors for young people. This year’s campaign slogan, “Invest in the Future, Mentor a Child,” focuses on mentoring as a strategy for boosting academic achievement and workforce readiness. In Minnesota, more than 270,000 young people could benefit from a mentoring relationship.

  • Statewide Mentoring Conference Features Two Nationally-Recognized Mentoring Researchers

    Dr. Renée Spencer, Associate Professor at Boston University School of Social Work, and Dr. Jean Rhodes, Professor of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, headline the 12th annual Minnesota Mentoring Conference: “Best in Class” hosted by the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota (MPM). The conference will be held at the University of Minnesota's Continuing Education & Conference Center in Saint Paul. The researchers will discuss the quality of mentoring relationships and shed light on two provocative questions: "Doing Our Best: Is It Good Enough?" and "Which Youth Is Mentoring Best For?"

Spearheaded by the Harvard Mentoring Project of the Harvard School of Public Health, MENTOR, and the Corporation for National and Community Service, this year’s campaign focuses on mentoring as a strategy for boosting academic achievement. The campaign’s tagline is “Help Them Get There. Become a Mentor.” President Obama has issued an official proclamation for the occasion.

  • M.A. Mortenson and IWCO Direct to Match Funds Raised for Minnesota Mentoring

    From Oct. 15 to Oct. 22, all donations made through the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota (MPM) will go to mentoring programs that commit to striving for the highest level of quality best practices, in turn ensuring more positive outcomes for youth. This campaign, called “Strive for Five: Give Mentoring a Hand,” will also be matched dollar for dollar by M.A. Mortenson and The Anderson Family Foundation with a generous contribution of up to $20,000 to support MPM’s quality initiative.
